     SPRING 2008 NEWSLETTER
PRESIDENT'S NEWS
To all residents of Edenwood. If you are not a current member of the Edenwood Neighborhood Association, I would  like to personally invite you to become a member. It is a very painless procedure and can be accomplished by      attending our spring member meeting coming up in April. A one-year membership is just twenty dollars. You will get the satisfaction of supporting the place where you live and maybe even improving it. As a member, you will also have   opportunities to get involved with the association, and it is a great way to stay current with things that are going to  affect our community.

The board is mostly focused now on anything that will improve the overall quality of life in Edenwood. One project you will hear about at the spring meeting is a proposal from our membership chairperson, Marie Horne. Marie has   been researching the cost and feasibility of improving our street signs throughout the neighborhood. A good example of the signs we would eventually like to go with are in the Westover Acres neighborhood in West Columbia. Also another board member, Tom Fischer, has been diligently getting our new Edenwood web-site up and running. A web-site that is kept current and has the ability and flexibility to act as an electronic bulletin board is a big asset. I have had several people over the years that have asked me for information about our pool. I now have a very convenient resource to direct them to for that information. If you would like to check it out, go to www.edenwoodna.com.

If you have ideas and or suggestions for something you would like to see improved or changed in our community, come out to our next meeting. We can't always accomplish everything that we would like to do, but we will surely give it a try.

The Edenwood web site is up and running. We have 14 pages of neighborhood information and pictures. At this point we have 9 advertisers and hopefully a few more will be added.
Remember, this is your web site so if you want to post pictures or have something for sale, be it a house or a tricycle, get it to me. It doesn't have to be pictures or if you don't have a picture, give me a call and I'll come over and take a digital picture and put it on the web.
You can contact me at 794-9061 or email me at tfische2@bellsouth.net

Welcome Committee
Louise & Lloyd Powell
The welcome committee hasn't been very busy lately.  In October we delivered a welcome basket to Kyle and Stacie Merritt at 806 Dogwood Lane. In February 2008 we delivered a welcome basket to Samuel and Jane Mayzes at 116 Pine Lane.

We also delivered a "Thank You" basket to Terry Wessinger and family in December while he was home on leave. Terry is a member of the 218th National Guard Unit serving in Afghanistan. Thank you, Terry and all our servicemen and women serving our country.

If you have any new neighbors on your street, please call 796-5523 to let us know.  It seems many of the real estate transfers are not being published in the newspaper, and we need help identifying our new residents.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

                        TREASURY "NOTES"
The treasury is good. Membership checks have been coming in and are all deposited. The books balance. The financial statement is shown at all meetings so feel free to have a look.
If anyone has any questions just give me a call. 794-9061

Cayce Citizens Forum
Do you have questions regarding Cayce's recent annexation of the Vista Farms property (formerly "Green Diamond")? You are not alone.  Come hear what the experts have to say about levee construction and maintenance, levee liability issues, floodplain ecology, levee district financing and other subjects that will help clarify what development of this land entails.  Join your city council members and Cayce community neighbors for this important exchange of information meeting at Brookland-Cayce High School.  Meeting date will be sometime in April or May. Visit www.smartcayce.org http://www.smartcayce.org for more information. Contact ENA Vice President, Christina Hulslander, at 803-926-9494 or email ploverbug@msn.com for more details.
Bulletin Board
The bulletin board by the pool is maintained by and for the residents of Edenwood to be used only for advertising items for sale, lost or found items or pets, garage sales or any other residential information. Ads are limited to 2 weeks duration and must be dated when posted. The board will be checked and all signs, notices, etc. that do not meet these criteria will be removed.

A Little Humor
2 ladies had loved playing softball together when they were young. In old age, 1 was about to pass. Her pal asked her to come back, if possible, to let her know if there was softball in Heaven. A couple of nights after Susie's funeral, Jane was awakened by a bright light and her friend's voice saying she had good news and bad news. Giving the good news first, Susie excitedly described softball in Heaven, where it was always the perfect day, nobody lost or struck out, and the fields were gorgeous. Jane was happy to hear all that and then asked for the bad news. "Well," said Susie, "the bad news is you're pitching Tuesday."

                                YARD                                 TRASH

With Spring on its way, residents will be busy planting and cleaning their yards. To serve all our residents with utmost efficiency, please note the following:
« Bagged yard trash will be given priority
over unbagged yard trash and will be picked up on your regular household trash collection day.
« Our Sanitation Department uses a pitch fork for unbagged yard trash collection. There may be times when we are unable to scoop up the entire pile and some debris may remain.
